What is an infographic? If you don't know, go look it up. Read about it and then in your own words tell me what an infographic is. What do infographics do? How do they work? What makes a really good infographic?

Infographic-a visual image such as a chart or diagram used to represent information or data.
An infographic can be used to represent things such as the number of people that attended a sporting event, However it is represented through some sort of visual aid.

Tell me about your Homecoming weekend! If you didn't participate in the Homecoming festivities, what did you do? Share pics!
This weekend I had a baseball tournament, which consisted of four games on Saturday and two on Sunday. I was unable to attend the homecoming dance because I was at Kansas City Community College at 9 pm for one of my games on Saturday. In this tournament my team went 4 and 2 and we took 3rd place.

Imagine Mr. Bacon has asked you to suggest one way of improving Blue Valley High School to make it a better place for students. Think about the changes that are needed at your school. Pick one change you feel would really make a difference and explain what it is and why you'd make the change.

Blue Valley High School is a great school that doesn't have much that needs to be changed. However there are a few things that could be improved upon. For example our lunches could be longer so we get more time to eat, and teachers should give us less homework with more time to complete it so we can get help with what we need help with and we are not crunched for time.

What are your favorite apps on your phone or tablet? Why?\

My favorite applications on my phone and/or tablet are Google search, because you can search for things and find answers to questions that you have, Snapchat because you can chat up your homies through pictures that you have snapped, and last but not least google maps because I am horrible with directions and i use it a lot to get where I need to go.

What is email? When do you use email in your own personal life? List reasons and ways that people use email. What do you know about "email etiquette"?

Email is a way to send messages to people in a more professional way than for example twitter or even text messaging. In my personal life I use email to communicate with my teachers, my coaches, and people I work with because it is more formal than other means of communication. Proper email etiquette is important in order to portray yourself in a professional manner. Some ways you can show this proper etiquette is to use the correct greetings and salutations depending on whom you are communication with, and the topic on which you are discussing.

Now that you've been in Emerging Technology for several weeks... what do you think? Do you think the web tools (Drive, Evernote, Bubbl, etc.) are helpful to you? Do you think they will be helpful throughout high school or even college? Explain.

Yes, I think the majority of the web tools that we have used so far have been very helpful with not only this class, but I have also made use of them in a few other classes as well. I believe that I will continue to use some of these web tools throughout high school and perhaps even into college. These tools will continue to be helpful even after I am out of this class.

Do you enjoy writing? When do you enjoy it? What kind of writing do you enjoy? Why do you think the ability to write is so important no matter what kind of writing it is? Give an example that you enjoyed

I do not enjoy writing. I never enjoy writing. There are no kinds of writing I enjoy. The ability to write things is important so you can write things when you need to write something like for work or school or even to communicate with other people. I do not enjoy writing.

Reflect on this quote. Give an example of a time in your life that this might have been the case.

\

This quote is 100% true and I have personally lived through many examples of this throughout my life so far and I feel that these experiences in the passed have helped me learn to always be prepared no matter what life throws at me. A simple example that is also more recent is that I failed to be completely prepared for a math test. I thought I could easily ace this test without studying and preparing properly and in return I ended up only getting a C although I know if I was prepared I could have gotten an A. These life lessons are thing that help us learn to correct our mistakes and I feel like they have taught me to more or less always be Prepared.

What did you do this weekend? Share pictures if you have them!

This weekend I went to the Blue Valley Football game on Friday, but before that I had a rigorous baseball workout at a new gym that I am thinking about joining. The following day which was Saturday I took the ACT and, as of now, I believe I got a perfect 36. After the ACT, which I dominated, I attended the Blue Valley Soccer game at the DAC or District Athletic Complex located at Blue Valley North West. To round out this weekend I slept in on Sunday and then went to Baseball practice. That sums up my weekend I hope you enjoyed this post about my intriguing weekend.

What is the importance of research? Why do you need to know how to research? What have you learned in high school about researching topics and finding quality resources? Have you had a helpful teacher that has taught you to research? Explain.

Research is important because it gets us to learn about topics that we are trying to learn about. We need to know how to research because it will help us research what we need to research. I have learned in high school that you need to know how to research in order to research things that need to be researched in order to learn about those things. I have had many helpful teachers that have helped me learn how to research things that need to be researched in order to learn about them.

Global Issue Selection

For my global issue in Emerging Technology I have chosen Space Tourism. I have begun researching the issue and you can find my research questions here.

Blog Post of the Day:

If I was in my seventies or eighties I most likely would not pay attention to kids these days and what they are doing, but if I did I'm sure that there are some things that I would complain about. For example kids music these days is too loud, and sports back in my day were better because people could actually hit each other in football, and baseball players could actually use steroids and other performance enhancing drugs that let them hit the ball farther.

Tell me about the global issue you selected. What do you already know about the issue? What are you looking forward to learning about it? Explain.

I have selected the global issue of Space Tourism. this issue comes along with much controversy and questions because it is viewed by many people as not economically plausible. This so called "futuristic idea" may be closer to present day reality than most people may think due to many things like the increase of private space programs and the constant improvement of technology. In the past 10 or 15 years the cost of space tourism has dropped to less than half of its original cost. It is also projected to be cost effective in the sense of commercial use in the next 20 or so years at its current rate. Space Tourism should be possible if not in the present then in the very near future.

Yesterday I asked your to "think differently" and push yourself to be uncommon with your PSA project using Google Slides. Why do you think I asked you to do that? What is the point? Why not just use bullets and headers? Explain.

I think that you had us do this to get us to contemplate and think about the questions in depth. This process gets us to put more effort into the post and make it more personal to us and in turn gets us to create the best blog post that we possibly could. We also don't use bullets because the process of actually writing has close to the same effect as the first point of thinking differently about the post. and also gets us to take more pride in our work on the blogs.

Tell me all about your Labor Day weekend. What did you do? Include photos!
My Labor Day Weekend
By Derek Olson
This weekend, August 30- September 1, was Labor Day weekend, thus we had three days off of school. To my understanding many students of Blue Valley High School, including many of my close friends used this blissful time away from the learning environment to do nothing but relax and in return accomplish nothing productive, but not me. Because I am such a studious and proactive individual I decided to go out and do many interesting things. For example I looked after my adorable siblings while my parents were away, I worked extraneously hard at JR's BBQ, and also decided to take initiative on the side and make a competitive baseball team called the BB Thunderbolts. I hope you enjoyed the simple story of my Labor day weekend an thank you for viewing my blog. :)
